Grand View Run Club

WELCOME TO GRAND VIEW RUN CLUB

GV Run Club is open to all students, grades TK through 5th. Parents and siblings are welcome too! Staffed by parent volunteers.

Run Club meets weekly Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45-8:05 am at the grass field behind the cafeteria.

Upon arrival, runners pick up their Run Club tag from their class box located along the ledge of the grass. Class boxes are in grade order starting at TK and ending with 5th. Runners may start at 7:45am.  As runners complete a lap, they pass by a parent with a digital scanner and the lap is recorded. At 8:05am, runners place their Run Club tags into their class box. Please be mindful to place the tags in the correct class box!

RUNNERS MUST STOP AND TURN IN THEIR TAGS AS SOON AS THE 8:05 WHISTLE BLOWS!! Please do not be late to class!!!

Our goal at Run Club is to build an early understanding of the importance of movement, self-discipline, and a sense of accomplishment all before school begins.

Pro Tip : The grass can be wet and messy in the early mornings, please remember to bring an extra pair of shoes and /or socks to change into after the run.

Please fill out a waiver form before your first run.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

AWARDS: Rewards vary and are given for multiple accomplishments; we want to encourage children to log those miles. We will reward the completion of a 5k (3.1 miles), 10k (6.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) and a full marathon (26.2 miles)! Announcements will be posted on the bulletin board near the class boxes every Friday. Marathon runners will receive a special reward & announcement at assembly from Principal Grings.

RUN CLUB TAGS: Student’s name and photograph are printed on their Run Club tag. Students will keep the same Run Club tag for their entire time at Grand View, so please look after them!  Replacement photo tags are available for a $10 fee (there is the option of using a paper tag for which there is no fee). We can make paper tags for younger siblings, so they can also track their mileage.

STRIDETRACK: Run Club uses StrideTrack® to allow parents to track their child’s progress online. Monitor your child's progress either online at www.stridetrack.com or via the StrideTrack® app. To access StrideTrack® via the website or the App you need your child’s StrideTrack® number. This number changes each year and is listed in each teacher's Run Club box (where tags are stored for the runners). We recommend coming to Run Club to get this number.

We will be sending home your student's StrideTrack number in your child’s folder or white envelope at the kick off of Run Club. If you misplace this, your student's StrideTrack runner number is located inside their classroom runner card tag box.

VOLUNTEERS:  We are always looking for parent volunteers to help with set-up, check-in, scanning and packing away.  Please email Jen Norman at [email protected] for more info.

SIGN-UP FOR NOTIFICATIONS:  You can easily receive text/emails for rain cancellations and other important Run Club events by signing up for Remind messages. To receive messages via text, text @bkcbd63 to 81010.  To learn more, visit the Remind website.

FAQ:

  • Do we need to register? No, but please fill out a waiver before your first run.
  • Can my little brother / sister run?  Of course, although we can only make paper tags for them (but their miles will be logged in the usual way). We welcome all ages, bring your parents too!
  • Can I start late?  Although we would prefer everyone starts on time, we realize some children will arrive late which is not a problem!  Have them grab their tag and start running!
  • Additional Questions? Please contact Jen Norman at [email protected].

Thank you again for your support – we are looking forward to another incredible year!!
